    Department of Natural Resources staff will instruct this educational course for youth in safe and responsible hunting skills and practices. This is a must for the novice young hunting enthusiast and helps build competent and responsible skills. Students will need to bring a bag lunch, drink, pencil and provide their name, address, phone number, email, and date of birth (for DNR certification). Individuals born after June 30, 1979 will be required to have certification from this class before being permitted to purchase a hunting license at age 16. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. No fee. ALL REGISTRATION IS DONE THROUGH DNR, please contact DNR to register for this class ( gov).

    This course will assist dog owners on how to teach useful obedience commands such as: sit, stay, down, controlled walk and address behavioral problems using positive methods. There will also be discussion on proper toys, grooming, nutrition and crate training. Dogs must be at least four months old and be up to date on vaccinations. The first class is orientation for owners only. Bring shot records to first class. Do not bring your pet to the first class. Prospective students should call instructor Dawn O'Cain or Kelly Whittington prior to the first class at 356-7468. Benefits: gain communication skills, confidence and understanding between human and canine, address frustrating behavior issues, provide initial socialization for puppies and vital positive re-socialization for re-homed/shelter dogs through obedience exercises to build a trusting relationship with your companion.
